NEW REGIONAL MEDICAL DIRECTOR!
Southern Maine EMS is excited to announce the addition of Dr. Kate Zimmerman, DO to our team as our new Regional Medical Director. Dr. Zimmerman was unanamiously approved by both the Southern Maine EMS Board of Directors and the Maine EMS Board. Dr. Marlene Cormier, after tireless efforts and energies, has decided to step back a bit and refocus on family and career demands, and after a broad search, and fine applicants, SMEMS has selected Dr. Kate Zimmerman as
the best fit for our region. Dr. Zimmerman is an attending Physician at Maine Medical Center and the Associate Director of Medical Student Education. A graduate of Bates and University of New England's medical school, she grew up in eastern New Hampshire and was both an EMT and Paramedic for many years. She continued as a ski patroller during her years of education, and brings a variety of educational, quality management and medical expertise to our region. We wish Dr. Cormier much success in her future endeavors, and both physicians will be working together over the next several months to transition and provide mentorship. Dr. Zimmerman will be at next Board, Medical Control and QI meetings (April 25), please stop in and say "Hi"!
